The Savannah Post

What is It?

The Savannah Post is a snail-mail publication! Subscribers get a real piece of mail each month filled with whimsical, thoughtful, and tactile delights personally curated and packaged by Javen and Aleisha. Each letter contains four special items* and is mailed in a beautiful, hand-addressed envelope. We do our printing in Savannah at Mailbox Cafe. Further down are digital copies of some past editions.

  1. A piece of art. (“The Relic”) We connect with an artist each month to feature one of their original pieces. These are high quality prints on hemp, pearl or linen paper, typically as a 5×7, perfect for framing and hanging – or for putting on the fridge. On the backside, we write a personal note to each reader.
  2. A featured-artist section (“The Relay”) Here we highlight folks who are creating good things in the world. This may be photographs, writing, paintings, poetry, or something else.
  3. A short essay (“The Reverie”) Javen (or a contributor) writes an 850 word essay. Past topics have included observations from the therapy room, funny stories, and anecdotes about rabbits. Most of these pieces are later published on Substack. You can read some past essays here.
  4. A seasonal recipe (“The Recipe”) Aleisha curates a recipe and gives step by step instructions for preparation. It’s a fun way to treat yourself (or friends) to something new!

*each month we also include a bonus item for fun! These have included flower seeds, paper birds, postcards, and fruity black tea – it’s a new surprise each month.
Who Are We?

We are parents of a three year old living in Savannah, GA. We got to know each other working at a coffee shop in Clemson, SC. After Javen graduated from Toccoa Falls College, we moved to Phoenix, AZ for five years. Aleisha worked as program director at Aim Right Ministries, and Javen did grad school to become a psychotherapist. While in Phoenix, we had miss Ava Li. In 2026, we moved back east to be closer to our families and bought a house on the southside in Savannah, GA (read more about our big move here). We work on The Savannah Post together each month. It allows us to connect with new people, put something good out into the world, and get our hands around a project we both love!
